Holiday Valley Ski Weekend
Our winter skiiing cycle is now complete! The ski-bums of Troop 8 will now retire their skis and break out the swim trunks in preparation for the spring canoeing cycle. Our desperate search for "real snow" was rewarded in Ellicotville, NY, after a long dark drive - nearly 8 inches over the two days we stayed in the Red House cabins. We tried our best to lose some scouts at the Ohio rest stops, but they found their way back to the cars, oh well. Both ski days were filled with chilly temps, strong winds, and wintry snow. We ate our lunches outside in the snow, much to the amusement of everyone in the lodge. The boys were mostly OK in their cabins, but there were reports of some adult cabins making 'cajun blackened' bread pudding and there was also an unseemly tale of an adult standing on a cot and screaming because of a mouse running around in the cabin. (this person paid a lot of money to not be named). After two busy days packed with sking instruction and lots of safe slope time, we travelled home to (mostly) snow-less Michigan.
