Paddling Night 3
Learn how to canoe with skills! Your newly learned skills will allow you to engage in battle with the mighty Peremarquette River and, more importantly, with your fellow scouts in various piratey activities in the upcoming Canoeing Weekend Trip!
We will be critiquing basic strokes, demonstrating and teaching more complex steering strokes, and showing what to do if you flip. How to fight a strainer and river signals. This will be the third of three meetings, and will be a preperatory night at Gallup Park for the weekend trip. PLEASE BE ON TIME (or early), as we need to count people to rent canoes at 5:30!
Make sure to bring a water bottle, NON-COTTON CLOTHES, a sun hat, bug spray, sunscreen, and a croaky (glasses straps) if you have glasses which will allow you to sucessfully Be Prepared. This trip will help prepare you for the up coming Peremarquette River canoe trip, one of the fastest (and longest) rivers in Michigan [see the description for more detail]. Be ready to get wet!!!
You must be at Gallup canoe livery on time! We will be renting canoes very close to the start and If your not there then you will not be a able to participate. Be prepared and hope to see you there!
