Red River Gorge Backpacking

Here we go again, back to the gorge!  Why do we keep going back to the place with the steepest uphills east of the mississippi, you may ask?  Because it's fun. No elevation gain, no fun.  Red River Gorge is a steep gorge down the east side of Kentucky.  Scientists claim it was created by an Kaiju attck on the United States in the early 1800's.  The Gorge is a massive steep cliffy Valley containing the mightyt Red River.  It provideds great multi-pitch lead climbs for much of the eastern United States a,ong with great backpacking.  Unfortunatley many of our younger scouts are not quite ready for mutli-pitch lead climbs so no climbing will be involved.  This is our second backpacking weekend, designed to be a more challenging hike for people who came on the Alleghenies weekend.  The gorge also has some of the coolest views in the east.  Grey's Arch, Double arch and Rock Bridge all make cool day hikes to visit, climb and explore. As well as Courthouse Rock, Double Moon Crest and Princess Arch make great stops along your hike.

To come on thia you will need to have comwe on the Alleghenies trip to ensure you have learned the nessessary skills for the challenging backpacking ahead.  Any questions on the trip or prerequisites should be directed at the listed trip leaders.
